Senior AI Engineer (AI)

What you will do

• Design, develop, validate, and deploy distributed machine learning models using Apache Spark, Spark MLlib, and Apache Iceberg.
• Build agentic AI workflows using LLMs, tool calling, Model Context Protocol, retrieval-augmented generation, and multi-step planning.
• Develop AI-driven data analysis workflows with Amazon Athena, Trino, and Spark SQL, including query optimization and guardrails.
• Deploy and maintain self-hosted AI/ML model-serving environments with Kubernetes in disconnected or restricted networks.
• Automate model training, evaluation, and agent workflows using Apache Airflow, AWS, and Kubernetes.
• Monitor model performance and drift, integrate solutions into production pipelines, and communicate model risks to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Active U.S. Government Secret security clearance and U.S. citizenship are required.
• At least 8 years of professional experience in software engineering, data engineering, or machine learning, including at least 4 years in applied AI/ML.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field, or equivalent additional professional experience.
• Strong experience with distributed machine learning, Apache Spark, Apache Iceberg, statistical modeling, and large-scale datasets.
• Hands-on experience with agentic AI, LLMs, RAG, vector databases, distributed SQL engines, Python, and Apache Airflow.
• Experience with AWS services including S3, EC2, and EMR, as well as Kubernetes-based deployment and responsible AI practices.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
• Experience developing MCP servers, AI agent frameworks, LLM evaluation frameworks, automated testing, or AI guardrails.
• Advanced Apache Iceberg knowledge and experience with AWS Glue Data Catalog, Terraform, or Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience supporting federal or Department of Defense AI/ML programs.
