Fiber Engineer (OSP Fiber)

Location: Raleigh, North Carolina; hybrid work model with office-based engineering and field visits across the Carolinas East region

hirify.global is partnering with a leading energy provider on telecommunications engineering and utility communications infrastructure projects.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain backbone, lateral, and access fiber optic network designs.
• Perform fiber route selection, capacity planning, and redundancy design.
• Prepare engineering drawings, splice schematics, construction documentation, as-built drawings, and asset records.
• Oversee OSP fiber construction and installation, including compliance, field inspections, and resolution of design discrepancies.
• Coordinate contractors, vendors, and field crews responsible for fiber installation, splicing, and testing.
• Support telecom infrastructure integration with substations, protection systems, control systems, and grid modernization initiatives.

Requirements

• Strong outside plant fiber engineering experience in network design, construction, splicing, or repair.
• Experience supporting telecommunications engineering projects and project delivery.
• Understanding of fiber optic network architecture, construction methods, and testing procedures, including OTDR and power meter testing.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, maps, and GIS data.
• Experience coordinating contractors, vendors, and field crews while working independently with cross-functional engineering teams.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint, and Teams.
