Healthcare Integration Engineer

Technology company building an AI and data platform that helps health plans create trusted, connected healthcare data foundations for payer intelligence and GenAI use cases.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and maintain secure RESTful APIs that comply with FHIR, including US Core and R4/STU3.
• Deploy, configure, and optimize Firefly Server and Firely SDK tooling for high-concurrency clinical data requests.
• Design and administer MongoDB schemas, collections, indexes, queries, aggregations, and document models for nested FHIR JSON data.
• Build ETL/ELT pipelines that ingest, map, and transform HL7 v2, C-CDA, and X12 data into standardized FHIR resources.
• Ensure persistence, transmission, and integration mechanisms comply with HIPAA, GDPR, and SOC 2 guidelines.
• Perform integration testing, FHIR profile validation with Firely Forge, and performance tuning for low-latency queries.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in healthcare software engineering, healthtech integration, or clinical informatics.
• Deep working knowledge of HL7 FHIR resources, profiles, extensions, and RESTful interactions.
• Hands-on experience with Firely Server, Firely .NET/C# SDKs, performance tuning, architecture, and system design.
• 3+ years of MongoDB experience, including query optimization, indexing, aggregation frameworks, and document modeling.
• Proficiency in C#/.NET Core or Node.js/TypeScript for backend services and custom plugins.
• Familiarity with EHR integration, including Epic, Cerner/Oracle Health, or Athenahealth, and healthcare specifications such as SMART on FHIR and OAuth2/OIDC.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or another relevant field.

Nice to have

• HL7 FHIR Certification from HL7 International.
• Experience with AWS DocumentDB or Azure Cosmos DB for MongoDB API.
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• DevOps, SRE, and cloud operations experience.
