Data Solutions Architect (Microsoft Fabric)

Location: Edinburgh, UK; hybrid working with typically 2 days per week onsite

Salary: £80,000–£90,000 per year, plus annual bonus and benefits.

What you will do

• Define data architecture patterns, standards, and target-state designs for the Microsoft Fabric platform.
• Design and govern enterprise and domain data models, including conceptual, logical, dimensional, and physical models.
• Develop platform capabilities for real-time ingestion, AI-driven insights, and API-led integration.
• Shape trusted semantic layers with shared dimensions, facts, and metrics for reusable analytics.
• Translate business concepts, KPIs, and regulatory requirements into governed data structures.
• Embed data quality, lineage, metadata, lifecycle management, privacy, and regulatory controls into data designs while mentoring engineers and analysts.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Data Architect across modern analytics and data platforms.
• Strong hands-on experience with conceptual and logical enterprise modelling, dimensional modelling, and semantic layers.
• Experience designing cloud data architectures, preferably with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, or similar lakehouse platforms.
• Understanding of how data models support analytics, reporting, AI/ML, and operational use cases.
• Ability to work in Agile and product-led environments and provide clear architectural direction.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills across technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting AI, machine learning, conversational analytics, or natural-language query capabilities.
• Experience in regulated or customer-critical environments such as financial services or insurance.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Factory, OneLake, and Power BI semantic models.
• Experience aligning data architecture with governance, ownership models, and operating frameworks.
