Scientist, Protein Design (Protein Engineering)

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States. Only U.S. persons are eligible due to U.S. export control requirements.

Salary: $109,200–$174,600 per year, with potential eligibility for a discretionary bonus, incentive compensation, or equity award.

What you will do

• Lead in vitro selection and cell-surface screening campaigns from experimental design through execution.
• Design and run high-throughput mammalian display campaigns for complex, multimeric glycoproteins.
• Build scalable screening systems to replace resource-intensive plate-based assays.
• Develop advanced in vitro selection and directed-evolution capabilities, including new selection pressures and mammalian display modalities.
• Partner with computational protein design teams by generating high-quality datasets and actionable design feedback.
• Represent in vitro selection capabilities in cross-functional discovery and platform discussions.

Requirements

• PhD in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Protein Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience driving complex screening campaigns end to end.
• Deep expertise in mammalian display systems, high-throughput selection strategies, and experimental assay design.
• Scientific independence, judgment, and ownership appropriate for a Scientist role.
• Eligibility to access export-controlled technology and data under U.S. law; U.S. person status is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with antigen expression and engineering, including folding, trafficking, cleavage, stability, and glycan impacts.
• Expertise in library design and construction, including site-saturation, combinatorial, error-prone, and DNA assembly approaches.
• Experience with NGS-based readouts and quantitative enrichment analysis.
