Sr Government Relations Manager

Location: Austin, Texas; hybrid schedule with at least 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.

Base pay: $112,200–$202,600 annually, plus eligibility for an annual incentive bonus.

What you will do

• Enhance relationships and the organization’s reputation with state governments, state insurance departments, state Medicaid agencies, other government agencies, and trade associations.
• Identify legislative and regulatory opportunities that support business and policy objectives.
• Collaborate with internal departments as an advocate for key initiatives and government accounts.
• Communicate complex legislative and regulatory information clearly to diverse constituencies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of legislative and regulatory advocacy experience.
• Legislative or regulatory experience with a State Department of Insurance, state Medicaid agency, or state legislature.
• Knowledge of the managed care or health insurance industry.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including writing, editing, and disseminating complex information clearly and concisely.
• Independent judgment skills.
• PC proficiency, including Microsoft Word and an internet-based legislative tracking program.

Nice to have

• Knowledge or background in state insurance regulatory issues.
• Knowledge of Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
