Lead, System Security (Automotive Cybersecurity)

Location: Remote; applicants must be permanently authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $144,122.74–$240,204.56 annual base pay.

What you will do

• Define the cybersecurity strategy, roadmap, policies, risk register, governance model, budget, and executive reporting.
• Lead compliance and audit readiness across SOX IT controls, NIST CSF 2.0, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, privacy laws, NIST 800-171, CMMC, and export controls.
• Build and lead the security team, awareness program, security operations, threat intelligence, incident response, and vulnerability disclosure processes.
• Establish vehicle cybersecurity capabilities covering ISO/SAE 21434, UN R155/R156, TARA, secure OTA updates, telematics, certificates, and supplier requirements.
• Embed security across applications, cloud platforms, enterprise systems, manufacturing OT, corporate infrastructure, data platforms, and AI/LLM tools.
• Develop third-party and supply-chain risk management while partnering with engineering, manufacturing, legal, finance, audit, supply chain, and customer care.

Requirements

• 10+ years of information security or cybersecurity experience, including at least 5 years leading security teams or programs.
• Experience building or substantially maturing security programs across multiple domains and leading real audits or certifications.
• Hands-on knowledge of SOX IT general controls and at least one of ISO 27001, NIST CSF, SOC 2, or NIST 800-171.
• Experience securing manufacturing, industrial, or OT environments, including IEC 62443 and OT network segmentation.
• Strong technical grounding in cloud security, AWS, identity and access management, application security, and security operations.
• Strong executive and board communication skills with a pragmatic, collaborative leadership style.

Nice to have

• Automotive, EV, or connected product security experience, including ISO/SAE 21434 or UN R155/R156.
• Experience securing a greenfield plant, new company, or rapidly scaling business.
• Consumer ecommerce, payments, privacy, CMMC, ITAR/EAR, government contracting, data platforms, or AI/ML security experience.
• CISSP, CISM, GICSP, or CCSP certification.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information security, engineering, or a related field.
