Staff Software Engineer (Network)

Location: Alpharetta, Georgia, United States

Salary: $129,500–$186,100 annual base pay, plus potential performance-based bonus and restricted stock unit awards.

What you will do

• Design, develop, deploy, and scale cloud network and infrastructure services using software engineering and infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Contribute to architectural design and design reviews for Google Cloud network systems, emphasizing scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Write clean, maintainable code and build CI/CD pipelines, testable infrastructure, and automated tests.
• Monitor service health and telemetry, resolve incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement measures to prevent recurrence.
• Lead project execution, coordinate priorities and deadlines, review code, and maintain high standards for observability, testing, and technical quality.
• Document features and fixes and participate in an on-call rotation for incidents.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8–10+ years of professional software and infrastructure-as-code development experience.
• Deep expertise in one or more of Python, Terraform, Ansible, and GitHub, with strong knowledge of software development practices and design patterns.
• Experience with GitHub, JIRA, public cloud platforms, and triaging incidents or product defects in public cloud environments, including 4+ recent years of relevant experience.
• Any public cloud certification.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, collaboration, and technical leadership skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP, including both private and public cloud infrastructure.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation tools, and test automation frameworks.
• Knowledge of agile development methodologies.
