Senior Director of Community Engagement (Data Center)

Location: Remote, Dallas, TX / United States; frequent travel to markets outside the candidate's home base is required, including evening or weekend community events.

What you will do

• Lead the Community Engagement Playbook across established markets, expansions, and new market entries.
• Build stakeholder maps and manage relationships with schools, homeowner associations, sports leagues, chambers of commerce, labor organizations, faith communities, civic groups, and charitable partners.
• Plan and lead listening tours, stakeholder meetings, facility open houses, and community update events.
• Translate community feedback into needs assessments, charitable commitments, volunteer activities, and partnership opportunities.
• Coordinate with Construction, Corporate Development, Corporate Responsibility, Sustainability, Marketing, and executive stakeholders.
• Monitor Data Center Coalition and other industry-group communications, escalating material developments and reporting on community sentiment and program status.

Requirements

• 8+ years of relevant experience for a Director-level background or 12+ years for a Senior Director-level background in community engagement, community relations, public affairs, or corporate communications.
• Direct experience engaging communities around physical infrastructure projects facing or potentially facing organized public opposition.
• Experience managing multiple concurrent, multi-stakeholder programs across geographically dispersed markets.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts in plain language.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with legal, government relations, construction, and sustainability colleagues and escalate sensitive issues appropriately.
• Willingness to travel frequently, including for evening or weekend community events. Bachelor's degree in communications, public affairs, urban planning, political science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Experience in data centers, colocation, digital infrastructure, wireless or telecommunications infrastructure, energy and utilities, industrial development, or transportation infrastructure.
• Relationships with organizations focused on education, workforce development, emergency services, environment and sustainability, or economic development.
• Experience building a community engagement function and developing future team members.
• Familiarity with land use, zoning, permitting, the Data Center Coalition, or similar trade associations.
