Data Engineer

Location: Manchester, UK; hybrid working with ad hoc team visits to the Manchester office.

Salary: £45,000–£50,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits.

What you will do

• Create, maintain, and optimize data pipelines and infrastructure.
• Work with stakeholders to understand business requirements and implement SQL-first data transformation workflows.
• Design efficient data marts for specific business units, functions, and departments.
• Develop data solutions that support data collection, management, transformation, and access.
• Translate complex business requirements into reliable data models for end users.

Requirements

• Experience developing and delivering data solutions in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong understanding of ETL tooling and data transformation.
• Strong knowledge of data design principles and dimensional data modeling.
• Advanced SQL skills and understanding of query optimization strategies.
• Strong critical-thinking, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of results.

Nice to have

• Experience with Informatica IICS, Unix/Linux shell scripting, SQL Server, stored procedures, and SSMA.
• Experience with GitHub, API integration, Alteryx, data visualization, automation, and scheduling.
