Senior Software Engineer II (Java/Spring Boot)

What you will do

• Design, develop, and deploy cloud-hosted applications in a distributed system for next-generation peer-review products.
• Build capabilities supporting researchers, reviewers, and editors throughout the scientific publishing workflow.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and cross-functional Agile and DevOps teams to gather requirements and feedback.
• Contribute to architectural decisions focused on application stability and performance.
• Implement enhancements that improve delivery processes and working practices.
• Support and mentor team members while sharing technical knowledge.

Requirements

• Experience with several of JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, Spring Boot, and SQL, with willingness to learn additional technologies.
• Experience with build tools, Git, continuous integration, modern IDEs, refactoring tools, and test-driven development.
• Experience designing and developing for cloud environments, including Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS.
• Experience with Agile practices, DevOps, Infrastructure as Code, and alerting, monitoring, and logging tools.
• Familiarity with AI coding tools such as Copilot, Claude, Codex, or Antigravity.
• Experience supporting and mentoring colleagues, championing engineering best practices, and continuously developing technical skills.
