Senior Technical Release Manager (AWS)

Location: McLean, Virginia; hybrid role with 3 days per week onsite. Candidates based in the Tysons vicinity are prioritized.

Annual base salary: $103,000–$152,000

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end lifecycle of software and infrastructure releases across staging and production environments.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute zero-downtime deployments using blue/green, canary, and rolling strategies.
• Lead Deployment Readiness Reviews and enforce release quality and readiness criteria.
• Review Terraform and AWS CloudFormation changes connected to application releases.
• Partner with DevOps, SRE, QA, and engineering teams to remove pipeline bottlenecks and improve release velocity.
• Translate deployment risks and technical bottlenecks for executive and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in technical release management, DevOps, or SRE, including at least 1 year with enterprise-scale AWS deployments.
• Experience with AWS services such as ECS, EKS, Lambda, S3, and CodePipeline.
• Knowledge of modern CI/CD tools, continuous integration and delivery, Git branching strategies, and pipeline automation.
• Working knowledge of Terraform or AWS CloudFormation for reviewing and coordinating infrastructure changes.
• Strong communication skills for explaining complex deployment risks to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with CloudWatch or Prometheus for evaluating post-release health metrics.
• Experience releasing software under SOC2, HIPAA, or PCI-DSS compliance frameworks.
