Director, Business Operations - Operational Excellence (Fintech)

Location: Chicago, Illinois — hybrid work from the West Loop office

Base salary: $120,000–$170,000 per year, plus a discretionary performance bonus of 15–20% of base salary.

What you will do

• Identify inefficient operational workflows and lead the rollout of tools, systems, and automation with Engineering, Data, and operations leaders.
• Own operational tooling roadmaps and build-versus-buy recommendations.
• Develop cost-to-serve and unit economics models, connect operational metrics to P&L impact, and recommend staffing, process, or technology changes.
• Design KPI frameworks, dashboards, reporting infrastructure, and recurring operating reviews.
• Lead cross-functional process redesigns and build operational playbooks for new product and market launches, including staffing models, SLAs, tooling, and performance targets.
• Support company strategy, market evaluation, partnership and M&A diligence, and priority projects for executive leadership.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional experience, including substantial experience in operations, operations strategy, or shared services.
• Experience leading complex operational projects from diagnosis through implementation and measured impact.
• Experience building cost-to-serve or unit economics models and using them to make leadership recommendations.
• Experience designing KPI frameworks and reporting systems used by operational teams.
• Ability to evaluate and implement operational tools and systems with Engineering and Data teams.
• Strong analytical, communication, executive presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with hands-on experience using financial models, customer metrics, and operational dashboards.

Nice to have

• Experience in operations, shared services, or operations strategy in-house or in consulting.
• Direct ownership of operational tooling and cost-to-serve initiatives.
