TL;DR
Propulsion Engineer II - Ground Fluids (Aerospace): Owning ground fluid systems for spacecraft programs from architecture and P&IDs through fabrication, testing, propellant loading, and flight operations with an accent on propulsion hardware, safety, and mission readiness. Focus on leading multi-site propellant campaigns, defining engineering standards and procedures, mentoring engineers, and resolving complex fluid system problems.

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. Candidates must be lawfully authorized to work in the U.S. and qualify as a U.S. person for access to export-controlled technology.

Salary: $119,543–$152,749 per year, plus potential stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

Company

hirify.global develops commercial space infrastructure, including in-orbit pharmaceutical processing, reentry capsules, heat shields, satellite buses, and related spacecraft systems.

What you will do

  • Own ground fluid systems across architecture, P&IDs, mechanical design, fabrication, testing, and operations.
  • Support satellite bus ground support equipment, thruster development test stands, and component acceptance test hardware.
  • Lead propellant loading campaigns across multiple facilities while maintaining safety, efficiency, and mission readiness.
  • Define and improve propellant handling processes, technical standards, work instructions, assembly procedures, and engineering documentation.
  • Drive the ground fluids roadmap, identify capability gaps, and support team growth.
  • Mentor engineers, review technical work products, coordinate with launch sites and partners, and resolve complex fluid system issues.

Requirements

  • B.S. in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 1 year of hands-on propulsion fluid system design, build, and test experience for spacecraft or launch vehicles.
  • Working knowledge of pressurized components, tubing, fittings, seals, valves, instrumentation, manufacturing processes, and installation methods.
  • Experience authoring and executing operational procedures for ground tests or flight campaigns, including proficiency with P&IDs.
  • Familiarity with 91-710 or equivalent range safety requirements, plus proficiency with CAD tools and PLM software.
  • U.S. work authorization and U.S.-person status are required because the role involves export-controlled technology.

Nice to have

  • 3+ years of propulsion fluid systems experience on spacecraft or launch vehicles.
  • Experience with hypergolic, cryogenic, or other spacecraft-grade propellants.
  • Test or launch site operations experience involving range safety and launch site personnel.
  • Experience leading a technical team or sub-discipline and developing propulsion engineering standards.
  • Strong technical communication skills for work instructions, specifications, assembly procedures, and technical memos.

Culture & Benefits

  • Regular full-time employment with flexible paid time off and 12 paid holidays.
  • Company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance, with FSA and employer-matched HSA options.
  • Parental leave, family-building support, wellness reimbursement, and sponsored One Medical memberships.
  • 401(k) plan with a 6% immediately vested employer match, incentive equity, and relocation support if needed.
  • Daily lunch, dinner twice weekly, team events, and complimentary EV charging.
