What you will do

• Verify test requisitions and patient identification before collection.
• Obtain blood specimens through venipunctures and finger sticks.
• Maintain specimen integrity using aseptic and isolation procedures.
• Track collections, record quality-control results, and maintain daily draw tallies.
• Resolve unusual test orders with physicians, pathologists, nursing stations, and reference laboratories.
• Manage patient reports, triage billing questions, and schedule courier pickups through FedEx or Medspeed.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of phlebotomy experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy certificate if required by the state.
• Ability to follow hospital, federal, state, local, and JCAHO standards.
• Ability to work in an office setting with scrubs and track each blood draw.
• Completion of HIPAA/PHI privacy, compliance, and security training within the first 30 days is required.
