Location: Remote/telecommuter within the listed U.S. states: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington, or Wisconsin.
Salary: $108,100–$183,800 national range; $123,200–$209,400 national-plus range for higher-cost labor markets, including Western Washington and Alaska.

What you will do
- Lead underwriting, pricing, and contracting activities to ensure adequate rates, policy provisions, risk management, and profitability.
- Develop management reports covering financial and membership positions, contract fulfillment, production, and business performance.
- Manage underwriting processes and turnaround objectives while maintaining pricing data and contract generation systems.
- Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate underwriting employees while building team capabilities.
- Manage assigned cost-center budgets and support departmental strategy, policies, and procedures.
- Advise internal departments, sales, and account management teams through presentations, negotiations, data reviews, and underwriting policy guidance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field, or four years of equivalent work experience.
- At least five years of underwriting, regulatory, or health insurance consulting experience, including previous underwriting experience.
- Substantial knowledge of the health insurance industry and group administration or underwriting within an insurance carrier.
- Leadership experience in complex business cases or projects, with strong negotiation and influencing skills.
- Ability to assess market conditions and recommend contract and underwriting improvements supporting competitiveness and revenue growth.
- The role is primarily sedentary and requires keyboard use and clear communication by telephone and in person.
Nice to have
- Two years of health insurance management or leadership experience.
- Master’s degree.
- CEBS designation.
