Senior Data Engineer (Databricks)

Location: Hybrid work in Atlanta, Georgia, or Washington, DC; on-site support is required. Preference is given to candidates located in Atlanta or with prior CDC experience. U.S. citizenship or a Green Card is required, and the ability to obtain Public Trust is mandatory.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise-grade ETL/ELT pipelines using Python and SQL.
• Build and optimize data models, warehouses, and Databricks lakehouse environments.
• Ingest, clean, validate, and transform large-scale data from APIs, flat files, relational sources, and unstructured systems.
• Implement data quality, metadata management, governance, security, and compliance controls.
• Deploy, monitor, troubleshoot, and improve Azure data solutions using logging, alerting, and CI/CD practices.
• Document data architecture, pipeline logic, and operational procedures while collaborating with data scientists, operational leaders, and infrastructure architects.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or database architecture.
• 6+ years of experience with Python and SQL, including scalable ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Experience with Azure data ecosystems such as Azure Data Factory and modern processing frameworks such as Databricks.
• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, data modeling, schema design, governance, security, and compliance.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related quantitative field.
• Must be able to work on-site in Atlanta or Washington, DC, be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder, and obtain Public Trust.

• Experience supporting data engineering initiatives in government-related environments.
• Experience collaborating with data scientists and analysts on evolving data models.
• Knowledge of IT infrastructure practices, data access methodologies, advanced security practices, governance policies, and compliance frameworks.
• Azure Data Engineer Associate certification.
