Hardware Technician (Quantum Computing)

Location: On-site in Broomfield, Colorado, United States. Candidates must be U.S. persons as defined in the posting. Candidates must not be nationals of China or Russia unless also a U.S. citizen.

Base pay: $66,000–$105,000 annually.

What you will do

• Assemble, integrate, test, and validate ultra-high-vacuum, mechanical, and electrical systems for trapped-ion quantum computers.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot vacuum systems, helium leak detectors, ovens, cryogenic systems, and electrical test equipment.
• Perform precision cleaning, handling, inspection, and testing in cleanroom and laboratory environments.
• Coordinate daily build activities, escalate constraints, and support quality and schedule commitments.
• Document issues, support root-cause investigations, and implement and verify corrective actions.
• Partner with engineers and physicists to improve work instructions, fixtures, tooling, test methods, acceptance criteria, and production processes.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least five years of hands-on experience assembling, testing, maintaining, or troubleshooting complex hardware in an R&D or manufacturing environment.
• U.S. person status is required, including U.S. citizenship, permanent residence, or granted asylum or refugee status.
• Due to U.S. Government national security requirements, candidates must not be nationals of China or Russia unless also U.S. citizens.
• Strong attention to detail, disciplined organization, and a safety- and quality-first approach.

Nice to have

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline.
• Experience with vacuum hardware, pumps, gauges, fittings, seals, and helium leak detection.
• Experience with cleanrooms, contamination-controlled work, cryogenic systems, precision mechanical assemblies, optics, photonics, aerospace hardware, semiconductor equipment, or scientific instrumentation.
• Experience developing work instructions, build travelers, fixtures, tooling, test procedures, work cells, preventive-maintenance plans, or training materials.
