Principal Software Engineer (Java)

Location: New York, NY, USA; hybrid work with at least 3 days per week in-office

Base salary: $190,600–$317,700 per year, plus potential bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Provide strategic technical guidance to engineering teams across software development, systems integration, and technology strategy initiatives.
• Analyze complex client and business requirements and define solutions aligned with organizational goals.
• Drive innovation and lead the development of competitive, high-performance software solutions.
• Collaborate with Architecture, Quality Assurance, Network Design, and Enterprise Planning teams.
• Identify technology trends and market shifts to inform product direction and create growth opportunities.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 12+ years of software engineering and systems development experience in low-latency, high-throughput environments.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence strategic technical decisions.
• Deep expertise in software architecture, systems integration, and enterprise-scale solution design.
• Strong understanding of Linux, Core Java, and the TCP stack.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employment-based visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with ITCH, OUCH, FIX, or other financial technology messaging protocols.
• Backend development experience and familiarity with related engineering challenges.
• Experience migrating systems to 24x7 operating environments.
