Mechanism Drive Electronics System Engineer for Space Mechanisms (Space Mechanisms)

What you will do

• Act as Development Responsible for complex Mechanism Drive Electronics solutions and technically steer external hardware subcontractors.
• Derive, author, and manage MDE requirements and detailed technical specifications from higher-level system and subsystem specifications.
• Analyze supplier proposals, prepare technical evaluations, and support Tender Evaluation Boards.
• Contribute MDE expertise to commercial and institutional proposals and support mechanism technology roadmaps.
• Support multiple space programs in parallel and perform hands-on laboratory activities, including BB and EM work.
• Develop toward a Product Owner role with responsibility for the MDE product lifecycle, roadmap, and strategic definition.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
• At least 6 years of professional experience in high-reliability electronics design.
• Experience with hardware design and architecture compliant with ECSS and MIL-STD, including electrical component selection.
• Working knowledge of VHDL and experience technically steering external subcontractors.
• Experience authoring or reviewing electrical design data packages for PDR, CDR, and MRR milestones.
• Knowledge of stepper and BLDC motor control, space communication protocols such as MIL-STD-1553, SpaceWire, and CAN/CAN-Bus, plus position feedback and closed-loop architectures.

Nice to have

• Experience with space-mechanism drive electronics or precision motor control.
• Experience with MATLAB and Simulink for mathematical modeling.
• German language skills.
