Scientific Data Analyst II

Location: Atlanta, Georgia, United States; primarily telework with onsite support at CDC facilities as required. Must be available during standard business hours, with occasional authorized travel.

What you will do

• Operate and support CDC data management systems and platforms, including the CDC One Data Platform (1CDP).
• Monitor data pipelines, system performance, data flows, access, data anomalies, and platform functionality.
• Support system maintenance, enhancements, testing, upgrades, issue tracking, and backend operational activities.
• Conduct data quality assurance, validation reviews, reporting, routine analyses, and delivery of accurate data products.
• Develop and maintain automated reporting processes, data workflows, scripts, user guides, SOPs, training materials, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with program staff, IT teams, enterprise platform teams, stakeholders, funding recipients, and external partners on data governance and reporting requirements.

Requirements

• Master's degree in public health, health informatics, data management, data science, statistics, computer science, information systems, or a related field.
• At least three years of experience in data management, reporting, data governance, program evaluation, health informatics, or related work.
• Experience managing large datasets, databases, reporting systems, data management processes, data governance procedures, metadata standards, and quality assurance processes.
• Proficiency with SQL and data management platforms, plus reporting and visualization tools such as Power BI, 1CDP, or Tableau.
• Proficiency with R, Python, SAS, and related data management and reporting technologies.
• Strong knowledge of data lifecycle management, information governance, database design, relational data structures, data quality, analytics, and stakeholder collaboration.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting CDC, HHS, or other federal public health agencies.
• Experience with public health surveillance, healthcare datasets, electronic health records, claims data, or federal healthcare data sources.
• Knowledge of HL7, FHIR, OMOP, healthcare interoperability standards, and common data models.
• Experience leading data management teams, enterprise reporting frameworks, governance programs, or complex multi-stakeholder initiatives.
• Experience with CDC One Data Platform reporting and data management activities.
