Lead Tool Tech Mechanic (Solar)

Location: Arizona, United States — remote role with travel to customer and construction sites, including up to 100% travel as required

Annual target total cash compensation: $90,000–$110,000 USD, including base salary and target commission. The role may also be eligible for equity.

What you will do

• Lead the planning, deployment, setup, commissioning, calibration, relocation, and demobilization of installation tooling and field-support workshops.
• Diagnose and resolve complex hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and controls-related equipment issues using schematics, manuals, instruments, and root-cause analysis.
• Provide technical leadership, hands-on coaching, and training to customers, subcontractors, temporary labor, and internal teams.
• Create and improve preventive-maintenance practices, troubleshooting guides, inspection checklists, training materials, and standard work.
• Coordinate with customers, construction teams, Engineering, Service, Quality, Operations, and management to support safe and reliable field execution.
• Maintain service records, inventories, calibration records, repair documentation, and customer communications while communicating field lessons to product and process teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of progressively responsible experience with installation tooling, construction or industrial equipment, field service, equipment maintenance, or a related technical environment.
• Advanced working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and electro-mechanical systems, including the ability to read schematics and technical documentation.
• Experience troubleshooting complex equipment, identifying root causes, and implementing safe, durable corrective actions.
• Experience independently leading technical work at active construction, manufacturing, industrial, or customer sites with changing priorities.
• Knowledge of field safety practices, Job Hazard Analyses, equipment inspections, lockout/tagout, and EH&S requirements.
• Ability to travel up to 100%, work extended or non-standard hours when necessary, and support active construction sites.

Nice to have

• Experience with solar tracker installation tools, torque and tensioning equipment, hydraulic power units, electrical controls, or calibration systems.
• Experience operating or supporting forklifts, reach forklifts, skid steers, scissor lifts, aerial work platforms, laser levels, or transits.
• Forklift, aerial lift, OSHA, first aid/CPR, or similar equipment and site-safety certifications.
• Experience with multi-site deployments, customer-facing field service programs, new tool introductions, or equipment standardization.
