Information System Security Engineer (ISSE)

Location: Must reside within a commutable distance of Fort Meade, MD or Chambersburg, PA and work onsite four days per week on a hybrid schedule.

Salary: $130,000–$150,000 annually

What you will do

• Serve as an embedded security engineering consultant for Mission Partners, ISSMs, ISSOs, system owners, architects, and development teams.
• Provide security engineering support across the SDLC, including requirements gathering, design reviews, sprint planning, modernization, implementation, and production.
• Translate RMF, NIST SP 800-53, DoD cybersecurity policy, STIGs, SRGs, and PPSM guidance into practical engineering solutions.
• Review network, cloud-native, application, API, microservices, container, serverless, interface, and data-flow architectures for security weaknesses.
• Develop vulnerability mitigation strategies, support POA&M corrective actions, and reduce attack surface while improving system resiliency.
• Present cybersecurity risks, architectural findings, and mitigation recommendations to technical personnel and Government leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience and 10+ years of related experience.
• Current DoD Top Secret clearance is required and must be maintained.
• Must reside within commuting distance of Fort Meade, MD or Chambersburg, PA to support four onsite days per week.
• DoD 8140 Work Role 652 certification through at least one approved credential, such as SecurityX/CASP+ CE, CCSP, Cloud+, CISSP, CSSLP, CISM, CISSP-ISSAP, CISSP-ISSIP, or GSEC.
• Expert knowledge of RMF, NIST SP 800-37, and NIST SP 800-53 security and privacy controls, with strong security architecture and systems-security engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise security technologies, including SIEM platforms such as Splunk or Elastic, ACAS/Nessus vulnerability scanners, and EDR technologies.
