Principal Software Engineer (C#/.NET)

Location: London, United Kingdom; assigned workspace in the London office.

What you will do

• Provide hands-on technical leadership across the Client Lifecycle vertical, covering KYC, onboarding, accounts, operations and data.
• Design distributed, event-driven and cloud-native systems with clear trade-offs across resilience, scalability, security, latency and supportability.
• Translate strategic and regulatory requirements into target architectures, solution designs and incremental delivery plans.
• Build secure APIs, backend services, integrations and data pipelines using AWS-native technologies.
• Review designs and code, mentor engineers, and raise technical standards across multiple teams.
• Investigate production issues and performance risks while communicating technical strategy and trade-offs to senior stakeholders.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience, including senior technical leadership on complex business-critical systems.
• Expertise in distributed systems, microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS, cloud-native architectures, serverless services and infrastructure as code; CloudFormation experience is desirable.
• Strong experience building backend applications with C# and modern .NET.
• Experience with asynchronous messaging and event streaming, including EventBridge, SQS/SNS, Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Deep knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, data modelling, SQL, query optimisation, secure development and cloud security in regulated environments.

Nice to have

• Experience in financial services, payments, banking or another regulated industry.
• Experience with KYC, customer onboarding, account lifecycle management, CRM, compliance workflows and Salesforce integrations.
• Experience with Databricks, DynamoDB, Tableau, Redis, Kubernetes, CI/CD and modern software delivery tooling.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
