Firmware Engineering Co-op (C/C++)

Location: Shakopee, Minnesota, United States; onsite work in the Shakopee office

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, document, and deploy firmware for card and passport personalization products.
• Work with embedded controls for motors, sensors, vision systems, smart card programming, magnetic stripe encoding, and printing.
• Review product requirements and estimate development work.
• Collaborate with test engineers to validate functionality and participate in code reviews.
• Investigate field problems and debug issues at the hardware–firmware boundary.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in computer science, electrical engineering, or an equivalent technical field.
• At least two years of coursework completed in the current program.
• Experience with C/C++.
• Comfort working with Linux and embedded development environments.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience working on multi-person teams and projects.

Nice to have

• Experience with revision control systems such as Subversion, Git, or Mercurial.
• Experience with project and issue tracking systems such as GitLab, JIRA, or GitHub.
• Experience with Python, electromechanical systems, electrical schematics, and firmware development processes.
