Staff Energy Engineer (Autonomous Vehicles)

Zoox is developing fully autonomous vehicles and the supporting ecosystem for mobility-as-a-service in urban environments.

What you will do

• Lead the technical energy management team for a complete autonomous vehicle and robotaxi fleet.
• Develop and communicate full-vehicle energy strategies covering subsystem operating points, energy-saving features, thermal integration, and driving cycles.
• Translate energy strategy requirements to electrical powertrain, high-voltage battery, thermal, low-voltage, computing, and autonomous-driving systems.
• Lead energy simulation, testing, validation, and model correlation activities.
• Integrate the energy model into the simulation environment for end-to-end range simulation.
• Partner with hardware, thermal, powertrain, strategy, and operations teams to optimize robotaxi range and execute the energy roadmap.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in engineering, physics, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in vehicle energy management.
• Experience with energy simulation and testing.
• Experience leading and guiding a vehicle development program.
• Strong data analysis, documentation, and reporting skills, with proficiency in Smartsheet, Jira, and Google Workspace.
• Leadership experience establishing technical roadmaps, energy budgets, and performance targets for robotaxi vehicle milestones.

Nice to have

• Experience in technical program management.
• Experience in electric or autonomous vehicle development.
