TL;DR
Structural Design Engineer (Aerospace): Developing structural architectures and layouts for next-generation reusable launch vehicles with an accent on vehicle-level loads, structural sizing, CAD integration, and finite element analysis. Focus on evaluating load paths across ascent and recovery operations, building reduced-order and structural models, and balancing performance, manufacturability, operability, and reuse requirements.

Location: Parsdorf, Bavaria, Germany

Company

hirify.global develops launch vehicles for small and medium-sized satellites and constellations entering Low Earth Orbit, with a focus on sustainable access to space.

What you will do

  • Define and evaluate vehicle-level structural loads, load paths, and critical sizing cases across ascent, recovery, landing, and ground operations.
  • Develop structural concepts and sizing activities using first-principles methods, reduced-order models, and targeted finite element analyses.
  • Create adaptable CAD layouts for reusable launch vehicle architecture trade studies and preliminary development.
  • Assess the integration of primary structures with tanks, fluid systems, aerodynamic surfaces, landing systems, mechanisms, and other subsystems.
  • Maintain structural models to evaluate feasibility, mass, stiffness, interfaces, and vehicle performance.
  • Communicate structural trade-offs and recommendations while balancing performance, integration, operability, manufacturability, and reuse requirements.

Requirements

  • 3–7 years of experience in aerospace, launch vehicles, aircraft structures, or other highly engineered structural products.
  • Experience developing structural concepts and layouts from requirements through preliminary design.
  • Experience contributing to vehicle-level architecture trades and multidisciplinary system development.
  • Strong understanding of structural mechanics, load paths, structural sizing, and vehicle-level structural behavior.
  • Proficiency with FEM tools such as Abaqus, Nastran, Ansys, or HyperWorks, plus strong CAD skills with CATIA, Siemens NX, or comparable tools.
  • Fluent English, written and spoken, is required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with reusable launch vehicles, recovery systems, landing systems, or deployable mechanisms.
  • Fluent German.

Culture & Benefits

  • Virtual company share participation program.
  • 30 days of vacation and a company pension plan with a 20% employer contribution after the probation period.
  • Subsidised daily lunches, workwear rental with laundry service, and sponsored sports club membership.
  • Individual learning allowance after the probation period and childcare allowance for non-school-age children.
  • Flexible mobility budget with options including a Deutschlandticket, JobRad bicycle leasing, JobAuto, or fuel allowance.
