Staff Data Engineer (Healthcare)

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL pipelines and data models for analytics and product applications.
• Develop data integration workflows connecting internal systems with external healthcare data sources.
• Optimize cloud-hosted databases and data infrastructure for complex healthcare datasets.
• Ensure data security and compliance with healthcare standards, including HIPAA and HITRUST.
• Define data requirements with product, engineering, and clinical stakeholders.
• Create documentation and monitoring solutions that improve data reliability and transparency.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience as a data engineer or in a similar role, including several years in health tech.
• Strong SQL and Python skills.
• Experience with modern data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
• Experience with orchestration tools such as Temporal, Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, with AWS preferred.
• Strong understanding of data security, healthcare compliance, complex data transformation, AI software development tools, and cross-functional collaboration.

Nice to have

• Experience with DBT, SFTPGo, FHIR, HL7, claims data formats, CQL, or the Tuva Project.
• Understanding of clinical quality measures and rules engine logic.
