Hands-on Engineer (AI/Clinical Data)

hirify.global is building Tricorder, a dual-use healthcare venture developing rugged hardware and software for defence medical and civilian pre-hospital care in remote and contested environments.

What you will do

• Build an evaluation harness for vision-language and NLP models, including clinically meaningful metrics, regression tracking, and build-versus-buy analysis.
• Design labelling schemas, annotation tooling, quality checks, and inter-annotator agreement processes with clinical input.
• Develop reproducible pipelines for ingesting, cleaning, de-identifying, and transforming video, sensor, and text data.
• Organise, version, and catalogue multimodal datasets and prepare documented training, validation, and test splits.
• Design the clinical knowledge-base schema and ingest tactical combat care, SNOMED CT, ICD-10, and related NHS standards.
• Extract and link clinical entities, parse documents, and work with clinicians to represent real-world pre-hospital reasoning.

Requirements

• Strong Python and data engineering skills, with production data or ML pipeline experience.
• Hands-on experience with ML evaluation frameworks, benchmarks, or test harnesses.
• Experience with data labelling, training-data preparation, annotation tooling, and quality control.
• Working knowledge of databases and data modelling, plus practical NLP experience in entity extraction, entity linking, or document parsing.
• Comfort handling sensitive data under data protection and clinical safety constraints.
• Pragmatism and speed when working with ambiguity and making build-versus-buy decisions.

Nice to have

• Experience with SNOMED CT, ICD-10, dm+d, NHS clinical terminologies, FHIR, or HL7.
• Health-tech, clinical informatics, defence, or another regulated-domain background.
• Experience with video data at scale, multimodal datasets, LLMs, VLMs, or edge deployment.
• Early-stage startup experience, especially as a founding or early engineer.
