Information System Security Officer (ISSO) - Mid

What you will do

• Develop and maintain a methodology for categorizing FBI information technology systems by classification, impact level, hosting environment, data type, business function, and other security criteria.
• Apply categorization logic across assigned systems and align it with FIPS-199, NIST RMF, CNSS 1253, and FBI cybersecurity directives.
• Document system-grouping decisions, labor mapping, support allocation, chargeback, and cost-recovery information.
• Coordinate with program leadership, the COR, call-order management, and internal reviewers to maintain transparent and defensible processes.
• Support ATO lifecycle activities, POA&M tracking, risk assessments, compliance documentation, audit readiness, and approved automation.
• Provide monthly reporting inputs and support Monthly Statement Reports covering labor categories, systems, and FBI divisions.

Requirements

• Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is required to start.
• Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, information assurance, information systems, computer science, engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• At least five years of experience in cybersecurity compliance, information assurance, ISSO support, or federal system security governance.
• Experience with system categorization, security-control compliance, federal risk management, GRC tools, reporting, documentation, and audit readiness.
• Working knowledge of FIPS-199, NIST SP 800-37, NIST SP 800-53, CNSS 1253, and federal RMF processes.
• One of the following certifications is required: CISSP, CASP+, CISM, CCSP, CAP, or an AWS/Azure security certification.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting FBI, DOJ, intelligence community, federal law enforcement, or national security customers.
• Experience with classified systems and National Security Systems.
• Familiarity with Azure and AWS environments.
• Experience with labor or resource planning based on system complexity or compliance workload.
