Senior Controls Engineer (Semiconductor Robotics)

Location: Chelmsford, Massachusetts, United States; work arrangements may include a mix of in-office and remote work depending on role and business needs. The role includes potential international travel to customer sites.

Base salary: $118,265.18–$160,005.83 USD annually, plus eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Develop high-performance robot control platforms for semiconductor wafer handling.
• Apply digital filtering and control theory to design motion control algorithms and tune feedback parameters on robot hardware.
• Characterize dynamic performance, stability, throughput, payload vibration, and other robot performance metrics.
• Perform design verification testing, software configuration, documentation, and release activities.
• Use MATLAB and robotics and control theory methods to improve robot performance.
• Travel internationally as needed to integrate robots at customer sites.

Requirements

• Knowledge of control theory, dynamic systems, robotics theory, and vibration analysis.
• Experience with electro-mechanical systems, troubleshooting, and problem solving.
• Competency in MATLAB; experience with controls toolboxes is useful.
• Strong C/C++ programming skills, especially for real-time systems; multithreaded and interrupt-driven programming experience is preferred.
• Ability to use dynamic signal analyzers and general laboratory equipment.
• BSEE or BSME with 5+ years of experience, or MSEE, MSME, or Ph.D. with 3+ years of experience.
