Senior Front-End Software Engineer (Vue)

Location: Hybrid, with 3 days per week in the office in Austin, Texas or Columbus, Ohio

Lower is building a homeownership platform that combines real estate, mortgage lending, technology, and local expertise; Movoto is its high-scale real estate search and marketplace platform.

What you will do

• Design and maintain high-performance Vue 3 and server-side rendered applications.
• Optimize SSR pipelines, hydration, rendering strategies, bundle splitting, dynamic imports, and tree-shaking.
• Improve Core Web Vitals, Lighthouse scores, JavaScript runtime performance, Node.js SSR throughput, and caching across large-scale applications.
• Profile applications with Chrome DevTools, Lighthouse, WebPageTest, flame graphs, CPU profiles, memory snapshots, and real-user monitoring.
• Ensure SSR output, structured data, metadata, and pre-rendering support SEO and organic growth.
• Use AI-assisted development tools, contribute to architecture and code reviews, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product, design, backend, and SEO teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience building modern, high-traffic web applications.
• Strong JavaScript expertise and experience with Vue.js or React, plus Node.js in SSR environments.
• Experience optimizing performance for large-scale consumer applications with millions of users.
• Hands-on knowledge of Core Web Vitals, browser rendering, hydration, Virtual DOM performance, reactivity systems, code splitting, caching, CDN strategies, and SEO.
• Experience with automated testing, AI-assisted or AI-native engineering workflows, and remote or distributed collaboration.
• Excellent communication skills and an ownership-driven, collaborative mindset.

Nice to have

• Experience in real estate, marketplaces, or other high-scale consumer platforms.
• Experience tuning Node.js performance in production.
• Familiarity with edge computing or CDN configuration.
