Director of Risk, Brokerage (Fintech)

Location: Chicago, IL office; in-person attendance expected 5 days per week

Base pay for Zone 2 locations, including Chicago: $187,000–$220,000 USD annually, plus bonus opportunities, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the design and implementation of brokerage risk management practices with senior management and cross-functional risk partners.
• Own and evolve risk management program documentation, standards, and governance frameworks.
• Oversee risk assessments, including RCSAs, new product reviews, emerging risk identification, and regulatory examination readiness.
• Direct risk committee materials and executive reporting, translating complex risk data into actionable insights.
• Provide independent oversight of the broker-dealers' risk and control environment and hold business partners accountable.
• Lead and develop a high-performing risk team while using analytics and reporting solutions to identify trends and support strategic decisions.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in financial services, with comprehensive knowledge of broker-dealer operations and regulatory requirements.
• At least 5 years of management experience leading and developing risk professionals across relevant risk disciplines.
• Deep expertise in RCSAs, risk committee governance, and regulatory examination readiness.
• Strong written communication skills for regulatory-grade documentation and executive-level reporting.
• Experience with data analytics tools, risk dashboards, and reporting solutions.
• Comfort engaging with AI tools and emerging technologies to improve risk monitoring, reporting, and oversight.
