Underwriting Associate (Engineering & Construction)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Base salary: CAD $60,000–$80,000 per year

What you will do

• Support Engineering & Construction underwriters with accurate and timely business processing, administrative, technical, and marketing activities.
• Review, update, and maintain account information, underwriting records, documentation, and customer data.
• Conduct preliminary deal analysis and prepare account data for underwriter review.
• Assist with contractual documents, invoices, business correspondence, and materials for client and broker meetings.
• Coordinate with underwriting, Products, Finance, Claims, Compliance, Policy Processing, and near-shore or offshore teams.
• Participate in special projects and gain exposure to other insurance lines where applicable.

Requirements

• Excellent skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to perform routine calculations related to premiums, rates, policy changes, coverage extensions, and Total Insured Value increases.
• Experience managing underwriting documentation, including quotes, binders, policies, and records, plus administrative and accounting reconciliation support.
• Ability to prioritize and monitor multiple submissions while meeting quality and turnaround standards.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, customer-service, and collaboration skills in a multicultural matrix environment.
• Post-secondary education or equivalent is an asset; entry-level candidates may be considered.
