Software Engineer, Medical Imaging

Location: Austin, Texas, United States

Base salary: $113,000–$188,000 USD per year, plus equity compensation in the form of RSUs for full-time employees.

What you will do

• Develop tools for rapid and precise placement of hirify.global implants and electrodes relative to targets identified through functional imaging such as fMRI.
• Own the medical imaging data pipeline from scanner ingestion and multimodal image fusion through navigation in the patient reference frame during surgery.
• Import, manipulate, and visualize 3D medical imaging datasets.
• Build and deploy applications for managing large volumes of medical image data.
• Build a graphical interface that enables engineers and clinicians to place electrode targets using preoperative imaging.
• Develop systems that transfer preoperative medical images to the surgical robot and interface with intraoperative patient and tool-tracking hardware.

Requirements

• Exceptional engineering or computer science ability and a record of shipping software with real-world impact.
• Fundamental understanding of how systems work and practical proficiency in linear algebra.
• Experience coding in Python, Rust, and/or JavaScript.
• Experience manipulating and visualizing 3D objects, such as through game development, VR/AR, or medical imaging.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, physics, or another technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Ability to work in Austin, Texas, United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with medical imaging formats such as DICOM and NIfTI.
• Experience working with protected health information.
• Knowledge of container management and orchestration.
• Experience with infrastructure development.
