Chief Engineer V - Team Manager (Solid Propulsion)

Location: Hybrid in Folsom, California, United States. The role may be eligible for relocation assistance to Folsom, CA and requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

Salary: $153,615–$199,400 USD base salary per year, plus incentive plan eligibility.

What you will do

• Direct the end-to-end technical lifecycle of controllable solid propulsion system programs.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams through design reviews, qualification milestones, and technical execution.
• Manage critical-path schedules, resource conflicts, cost performance, scope baselines, and technical alternatives.
• Serve as the primary technical spokesperson for internal and external stakeholders and support customer-facing technical decisions and new business efforts.
• Improve engineering processes, knowledge management, standards, and best practices.
• Manage and develop an engineering team of approximately 10 engineers through mentoring, performance reviews, staffing, and training.

Requirements

• Ten years of systems engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, or another relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Advanced technical and organizational leadership skills, including the ability to manage ambiguity and competing priorities.
• Strong analytical, communication, presentation, data-driven decision-making, technical trade analysis, and configuration control skills.
• Experience with engineering management and project planning tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera, or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance at the appropriate level.

Nice to have

• Rocket motor design and testing experience.
• Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
