Lead Manufacturing Engineer, Propulsion (Aerospace)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; full-time onsite position. The role requires eligibility to access information and items subject to U.S. export controls: U.S. person status or eligibility for deemed export licensing is required.

Salary: $136,120–$193,224 USD per year.

What you will do

• Lead the propulsion manufacturing engineering team, set priorities, assign ownership, establish team rhythms, and mentor engineers.
• Own manufacturing development, production readiness, build execution, sequencing, and schedule for propulsion and pressurization hardware.
• Develop, qualify, and optimize processes and equipment for welding, brazing, tube fabrication, precision cleaning, proof testing, and leak testing.
• Partner with propulsion, systems, test, quality, and design teams to drive design for manufacturing and define inspection and acceptance criteria.
• Work with suppliers to review and approve manufacturing processes and documentation.
• Report hardware status, risks, and mitigation plans while maintaining a strong safety and quality culture for high-pressure and hazardous fluid hardware.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, aerospace engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in aerospace, propulsion, or high-reliability fluid systems.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience fabricating, assembling, integrating, or testing fluid system hardware.
• Experience developing manufacturing processes, travelers, work instructions, production documentation, assembly or test tooling, and CAD-based manufacturing documentation.
• Experience mentoring engineers or leading a workstream, build, or small team; formal people management experience is not required.
• Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends when required for critical propulsion testing and mission milestones.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in engineering and experience as a technical, project, or informal team lead.
• Experience with high-pressure or hazardous fluid systems, including propellant feed, pressurization, venting, and purge systems.
• Experience with propulsion component testing, troubleshooting, qualification, COPVs, valves, regulators, instrumentation, and flight-system integration.
• Experience with Siemens NX, GD&T, engineering drawings, production equipment, assembly tooling, and test tooling.
• Experience with supplier process reviews, root cause analysis, and corrective and preventive actions.
