Senior Software Engineer, Data Platform

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Salary: CAD 136,000–187,000 annual base salary for candidates located in Canada.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and own high-performance, scalable components for data-intensive platform services.
• Build, deploy, and optimize streaming infrastructure supporting analytics and machine learning.
• Develop foundational data services and products using technologies such as Kinesis, Flink, Elasticsearch, and Snowflake.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and cross-functional partners on system design and implementation.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, debugging, analysis, and performance tuning across multiple services and stack layers.
• Coach and mentor engineers while contributing to the growth of the engineering organization.

Requirements

• 4+ years of software development experience.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language and comfort with multiple backend languages, preferably Java or TypeScript, Ruby, Go, or Python.
• Experience with at least one of MySQL, Redis, or PostgreSQL.
• Strong computer science fundamentals and API design skills.
• Experience delivering work incrementally, gathering feedback, and iterating on solutions.
• Comfort working with geographically distributed teams and with React or similar frontend stacks, or willingness to learn.

Nice to have

• Experience with distributed computing technologies, including Kinesis, Kafka, Flink, Spark, Beam, Snowflake, Hadoop, Kubernetes, or Mesos.
• Experience with security, encryption, identity management, or authentication infrastructure.
• Experience using major public cloud providers to build high-volume, mission-critical services.
• Experience developing large-scale data integration applications across batch and online systems.
• Experience with distributed systems such as Kafka or Hadoop in high-volume or critical environments.
