Machinist

Location: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; onsite position

Salary: $43.85–$50.40 per hour, with starting pay of $43.85 and additional pay based on experience.

What you will do

• Set up and operate conventional lathes, mills, vertical and horizontal boring mills, and grinders.
• Study blueprints, drawings, specifications, and sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Measure, mark, and scribe materials, select fixtures and cutting tools, and configure machining parameters.
• Monitor machine operation, perform trial runs, adjust controls, and verify finished workpieces against specifications.
• Identify worn tooling, replace inserts and cutters, perform daily preventive maintenance, and address quality issues.
• Follow safety procedures, document work accurately, and maintain reliability, accountability, and a strong work ethic.

Requirements

• Journeyman Machinist qualification; Provincial Trade Certification or Red Seal is desired.
• Qualified machinist apprentices may also be considered.
• 3+ years of experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Mechanical aptitude and understanding of basic operating principles for plant machinery.
• Knowledge of critical safety devices and their purpose, with the ability to follow detailed written or oral instructions.
• Ability to complete work-related documents accurately and identify quality-related issues.
