Geochemist (Mining Geochemistry)

Location: Vancouver, BC, Canada; candidates must be located in the United States or Canada. Flexible options are available to work remotely or from a hirify.global office, with periodic travel for client engagements, conferences, field activities, and in-person collaboration.

Salary: $110,000–$140,000 annually, depending on experience and expertise.

What you will do

• Lead geochemical characterization programs and laboratory and field investigations for mining, mine waste, mine water, and biogeochemical projects.
• Conduct and oversee predictive geochemical and hydrogeochemical modeling, testing programs, and interpretation of environmental and hydrogeological datasets.
• Manage multidisciplinary consulting projects from initiation through completion, including scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and financial performance.
• Prepare and review technical reports, memoranda, presentations, proposals, and client deliverables.
• Develop client and industry relationships, support business development, and represent hirify.global at conferences and professional events.
• Mentor geochemists, scientists, and technical staff and support recruiting, onboarding, workload planning, and career development.

Requirements

• Advanced degree in Geochemistry, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience in mining geochemistry or environmental consulting.
• Experience managing technical consulting projects, leading multidisciplinary teams, and overseeing predictive geochemical and hydrogeochemical modeling.
• Strong technical writing, verbal communication, presentation, client management, and business development skills.
• Professional Geologist (PG/P.Geo) registration or ability to obtain it.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as needed.

Nice to have

• 10 or more years of experience in mining geochemistry or environmental consulting.
• Professional network within the mining industry and a record of technical publications, conference presentations, or industry leadership.
• Experience with geochemical modeling software such as PHREEQC, Geochemist's Workbench, MIN3P, or GoldSim.
• Experience with environmental microbiology, biogeochemistry, geochemical testing programs, laboratory oversight, or code-based data analysis using Python, R, or SQL.
