Skillbridge Program: Mechanical Technologist (Nuclear Energy)

What you will do

• Assemble and install process and auxiliary equipment in assigned facilities using forklifts, telehandlers, and overhead hoists.
• Commission, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Perform hydrostatic and pneumatic acceptance testing, I/O checks, and electrical component calibration checks.
• Support facility startup, monitoring, shutdown, and safe-state procedures, including Lockout-Tagout.
• Monitor and trend process parameters, taking corrective action when equipment malfunctions.
• Assist engineering staff with R&D test programs and repetitive assembly of manufacturing test fixtures and setups.

Requirements

• Must be actively participating in Skillbridge through the U.S. Department of Defense.
• No prior experience is required; mechanical or industrial environment experience is preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow technical procedures and mechanical concepts.
• Ability to use required personal protective equipment and prioritize personal and workplace safety.
• Ability to work collaboratively, solve problems efficiently, and learn different processes.
• Regular day shift, Monday through Friday; the role involves shop-floor, outdoor, elevated, noisy, hot, cold, and confined-space conditions and handling objects up to 50 pounds.

Nice to have

• Experience using mechanical hand tools and power tools.
• Experience with Instrumentation and Controls systems.
• Ability to read P&ID and mechanical/electrical drawings.
• Capability to obtain forklift, scissor lift, and boom lift certifications.
