What you will do
- Review medical records, physician treatment plans, clinical courses, and outcomes to assign accurate ICD diagnosis and procedure codes.
- Abstract medical and demographic data for statistical and operational requests.
- Enter coded and abstracted information into designated systems.
- Support efficient management of medical information, cash flow, and unbilled coding reports.
- Monitor updates to ICD guidelines and apply them in daily coding work.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least one year of hospital coding experience.
- Completed coursework in anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Inpatient Professional Coder (CIC) certification.
- Medical terminology knowledge, strong data entry skills, and familiarity with computer applications.
- Ability to work with healthcare team members.
Nice to have
- Associate degree in Health Information Management or a related field.
