Senior Scala Backend Engineer (Web3)

Location: Paris, France; hybrid work with up to three days per week from home.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate Scala services for blockchain account creation, operation history, transaction crafting, broadcasting, and lifecycle tracking.
• Lead new blockchain integrations from architecture decision records through production across account-based, UTXO, and privacy-preserving chains.
• Own production quality through SLIs, SLOs, observability, distributed tracing, incident response, and resolution of institutional-client incidents.
• Define service contracts with Coin Integration, hirify.global Enterprise, wallet, blockchain platform, infrastructure, SRE, security, and product teams.
• Review designs and ADRs, improve code quality and testing, manage technical debt, and contribute to end-to-end testnet testing.
• Use AI coding tools safely, contribute to AI tooling, mentor engineers, and share knowledge across the backend blockchain community.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience with production ownership of distributed systems.
• Strong interest in Scala and functional programming, with hands-on experience integrating blockchains and understanding transaction lifecycles, fees, finality, and reorganizations.
• Experience with at least two blockchain models: account-based, UTXO, or privacy-preserving chains.
• Experience with event-driven systems, data infrastructure such as PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, or NATS, and observability tools such as Datadog.
• Ability to diagnose incidents across multiple services and own the process from root cause through production fix.
• Comfort reading and contributing to TypeScript code, daily use of AI coding tools, and clear written English for design documents and incident reports.
