Health NL operates an integrated road and air ambulance service and provides emergency medical services and medical communications across Newfoundland and Labrador as part of Health Services.
What you will do
- Lead the overall operational effectiveness of the emergency medical services system through standardized policies, best practices, and accountability structures.
- Direct, mentor, and develop operational teams while setting objectives, priorities, and performance expectations.
- Lead annual operations business planning, budgeting, staffing, and training policy implementation.
- Coordinate labor contingency plans, special-event and disaster response, and business continuity activities.
- Partner with senior leaders to maintain clinical competency programs, support innovation adoption, and improve operational standards.
- Represent operations on boards and committees while promoting patient safety and a safe work environment.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in health sciences or a related field, or an approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 10 years of progressive leadership experience, preferably in EMS management within a high-performance accredited system.
- Experience in geographically dispersed, complex, multi-program environments, including multi-unionized workplaces.
- Active paramedic licensure in good standing and membership in the relevant professional association.
- Valid Newfoundland and Labrador Class 4 driver's licence, or the ability to obtain one, with a satisfactory driving record.
- Experience with operations, financial performance, business development planning, project management, change leadership, and stakeholder communication.
Nice to have
- Postgraduate studies or a master's degree, preferably in business.
- Experience in the service or healthcare sector.
- Knowledge of Newfoundland and Labrador healthcare and emergency service delivery.
