Head of Construction - DACH & NORDIC's - Construction Director

Location: Frankfurt, Germany; hybrid work with regular project-site presence across the DACH and Nordics region

What you will do

• Provide strategic leadership, governance, and oversight for construction services across multiple concurrent regional projects.
• Act as the senior escalation point for construction performance, safety, quality, schedule, cost, commercial, and contractual matters.
• Maintain project-site presence, identify risks, recover challenged projects, and support phased, fast-track, brownfield, and live-operational programmes.
• Lead and develop Construction Managers, Resident Engineers, Site Leads, and other construction personnel.
• Advise clients, project directors, contractors, vendors, EPCM partners, and regulatory stakeholders.
• Oversee construction delivery for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and other regulated manufacturing facilities, including cleanrooms, HVAC, utilities, process equipment, commissioning, and handover.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, construction management, project management, or a related discipline.
• At least 15 years of experience in construction, engineering, or project delivery, including senior leadership responsibilities.
• Senior construction leadership experience in an engineering consultancy, EPCM organisation, or similar environment.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and construction delivery across multiple projects, sites, and geographic locations.
• Strong knowledge of construction safety legislation, project controls, commercial management, contracts, procurement, and contractor management across Europe.
• Proven experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other regulated manufacturing projects, including GMP, CQV, validation, quality, commissioning, and operational readiness.

Nice to have

• Professional membership or chartership and formal health and safety qualifications.
• Knowledge of construction markets across the DACH and Nordics region.
• German language capability; Dutch or French language skills are advantageous.
• Experience with programme- or portfolio-level construction governance.
