Network Development Engineer I (AWS Direct Connect)

What you will do

• Provide on-shift network operations support and respond to large-scale customer-impacting events.
• Support and maintain next-generation AWS networks and ensure operational readiness for new deployments.
• Diagnose network device, connectivity, interconnectivity, and low-level application interaction issues.
• Design alerts and improve detection mechanisms for recurring platform issues.
• Lead event deep dives, document incidents, and drive corrective actions to completion.
• Create scripts, tools, standard operating procedures, and knowledge-transfer documentation while contributing to hiring and team development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Strong knowledge of IP networking fundamentals, IP protocols, network analysis, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with BGP and OSPF routing protocols.
• Experience with network operating systems such as Cisco IOS and Junos.
• Experience working in a Linux or Unix environment.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of ITIL, COBIT, and operational excellence methodologies.
• Knowledge of network hardware and packet-forwarding architectures.
• Experience with Unix scripting in Perl, shell, C, or C++.
• Experience working with customers to diagnose problems and reach resolution.
