Senior Business Operations Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid role based in Barcelona, Spain; commuting to the Barcelona or Frankfurt office a couple of times a week may be required. Up to 3 months of work from anywhere per year is available. Candidates currently based elsewhere may be asked about relocating to Spain or Germany.

Salary: €65,000–€70,000 gross annually, with final compensation depending on experience and performance.

What you will do

• Identify and scope high-impact transformation opportunities through AI and automation, defining business problems, success metrics, feasibility, risks, and ROI.
• Map and analyze processes, systems, and data flows to identify bottlenecks and design scalable workflows and tooling.
• Build automation and AI-based solutions end-to-end, from proof of concept to production, including intelligent routing and workflow orchestration.
• Integrate internal platforms through APIs and webhooks and collaborate with BI and Data Engineering teams on data models and pipelines.
• Establish quality, performance, safety, documentation, runbooks, and handovers for sustainable operations.
• Partner with Security, Legal, and Privacy on compliant data use and vendor management.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of business process mapping, optimization, bottlenecks, edge cases, and failure modes.
• Strong programming skills in Python and/or Java, with strong SQL skills for automation, data transformation, and system integration.
• Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines using dbt or similar frameworks, plus hands-on automation experience.
• Practical experience with LLMs and AI agents, including production agentic workflows.
• Conceptual DevOps knowledge covering Docker, Kubernetes, and deployment practices, plus experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Strong collaboration, stakeholder communication, ownership, code review, design review, and cost-versus-performance decision-making skills.
