Senior Staff Engineer - Data Engineer (AI/dbt)

What you will do

• Build and maintain complex data transformations and production-grade dbt models.
• Develop incremental models, materializations, snapshots, seeds, sources, packages, and Jinja macros.
• Implement data quality testing, documentation, and data lineage.
• Use Claude Code and/or GitHub Copilot for implementation, refactoring, test generation, and code review.
• Establish standards for AI-assisted development, including prompting, verification, security, intellectual property, and review practices.
• Integrate AI into developer workflows, CI steps, code generation, and documentation pipelines.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of hands-on production experience with dbt.
• Strong SQL skills and experience developing complex data transformations.
• Strong understanding of dbt Core and/or dbt Cloud, including models, materializations, tests, snapshots, seeds, sources, packages, documentation, and lineage.
• Strong experience with at least one cloud data platform: Snowflake, Databricks, Google BigQuery, or Amazon Redshift.
• Working knowledge of LLM fundamentals, AI-assisted development, agentic tooling, and pragmatic evaluation of AI productivity and quality impact.
