Senior Data Engineer (SAP BW/Snowflake)

Location: Remote from Armenia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Colombia, Cyprus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Mexico, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Ukraine, or Uruguay, with mandatory on-site work in Southern California for the first 4–6 weeks and additional on-site work a few days per week afterward. A valid US visa or the ability to obtain one quickly is required.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate full and delta data pipelines from SAP BW into Snowflake.
• Deliver data products supporting sales, distribution, retail analytics, and e-commerce.
• Perform hands-on engineering while coaching the Engineering Manager and a team of approximately 10 engineers.
• Establish reusable ingestion, modeling, data quality, testing, CI/CD, documentation, and code review practices.
• Work with the Lead Data Architect and business stakeholders to align delivery with target architecture and governance.
• Introduce AI-assisted and agentic engineering practices while reducing key-person dependency through knowledge transfer and pairing.

Requirements

• 7+ years of hands-on data engineering experience, including lead roles.
• Hands-on experience extracting data from SAP BW into a cloud data warehouse and strong experience with Snowflake.
• Experience with dimensional modeling or Data Vault, data quality practices, and dbt.
• Experience leading approximately 10 engineers and coaching a manager or team lead through hands-on collaboration.
• Experience working with distributed teams, external contractors or vendors, and applying AI to engineering or data work with a concrete example.
• English at Upper-Intermediate level or higher and readiness for on-site work in Southern California for 4–6 weeks at the start of the engagement.

Nice to have

• Experience with SAP BW/4HANA, SAP Datasphere, or SAP-to-cloud migrations.
• Experience with Snowflake Cortex, Streamlit, or semantic layers.
• Experience in CPG, retail, distribution, retailer data platforms, or syndicated market data.
• Experience building an engineering operating model or data engineering maturity roadmap.
• Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, or international client-facing engagements.
