Product Engineer (Ruby on Rails)

What you will do

• Own product problems end to end, from understanding customer needs and shaping solutions with product and UX to building, shipping, and measuring adoption.
• Build private and public GraphQL APIs for the front end, CLI, customers, and automation workflows.
• Develop the internal software factory that routes work between Linear, coding agents, and human review, including supporting metrics.
• Use coding agents in daily development and improve their context, tooling, and guardrails.
• Lead technical explorations, prototypes, architecture improvements, and best practices in Rails, GraphQL, and database design.
• Mentor teammates, participate in on-call rotation, and troubleshoot across Rails, Vue, GraphQL, and MySQL.

Requirements

• Strong Ruby on Rails experience, typically at least five years with Rails or seven years with a comparable web framework.
• Experience designing performant MySQL data models, using indexes and denormalization appropriately, and diagnosing slow queries.
• Experience with software architecture, interface boundaries, separation of concerns, and SOLID principles.
• Practical experience building with AI coding tools and sound judgment about their effective use.
• Product instinct, empathy, pragmatism, strong collaboration skills, and the ability to work on ambiguous problems.
• Ability to work remotely from Canada.

Nice to have

• Experience building agent evaluations, custom tools, MCP servers, or internal agent workflows.
• Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Sidekiq, Redis, and Golang.
• Experience scaling web applications to thousands of users and millions of events.
• Experience with organizations operating hundreds of applications or microservices.
